Sourcing and Factory Certification

Paneltek will not purchase any product from a factory which has not undergone the proper due diligence exercise. Due diligence exercise involves 3 steps:

Step 1:
A factory visit by the sourcing manager. The sourcing manager fills up a Factory Evaluation form and rates the factory visited. The visit must be done with the factory Production Manager and/pr the Managing Director. The sourcing manager than decides if the factory should be recommended for the next step.

Step 2:
A factory visit by Directors from the headoffice together with the Sourcing Manager is arranged. A Factory Evaluation Report is issued following this visit. Areas critical to the report:
- Factory name, address and contact person.
- Factory details: number of employees, shareholding, size area, year of extablishment and markets currently exporting to.
- Production: Capacity (containers/month), Quality Processes, Machinery, Lacquering line, Packing line and other processes critical to production.
- Mangement: Who are they, policy on claims and complaints, lead times and payment terms.

Step 3:
A list of recommendations may be forwarded to the factory. The factory may be approved as a quality supplier and kept in database for immediate or future purchases.

Customer's may now require an evaluation using the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code. The ETI Base Code will be done when required and with customer's personnel.
